Methodology & thresholds

Per-sponsor formulas

  • Payout rate = grants / avg(prior_year_eoy_assets, eoy_assets). When prior-year assets are missing for that sponsor, falls back to grants / eoy_assets and the cell is marked with a *.
  • Avg grant / account = grants / number_of_daf_accounts. Skipped when accounts is missing or zero.
  • Net flow = contributions − grants. Positive = accumulating; negative = drawing down. The diverging palette deliberately avoids implying either is "bad".
  • Velocity = (contributions + grants) / eoy_assets. Total money moving through, per dollar of corpus.

Stat-card aggregates (asset-weighted)

Stat cards sum numerators and denominators across the filtered sponsors, so big sponsors dominate appropriately. Net flow is a straight sum.

"Most recent year only" toggle

Default ON. With it on, every sponsor is reduced to the most recent fiscal year that survives the Year filter, so each row is comparable. Turn it off to see every (sponsor, year) row individually.
